Doi Inthanon - Chiangmai

Here are the highlights of Doi Inthanon. Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand. It is located in Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province. This mountain is an ultra prominent peak and was also known in the past as Doi Luang or Doi Ang Ka, meaning the crow's pond top. Near the mountain's base was a pond where many crows gathered. The name Doi Inthanon was given in honour of the king Inthawichayanon, one of the last kings of Chiang Mai, who was concerned about the forests in the north and tried to preserve them. He ordered that after his death his remains shall be placed at Doi Luang, which was then renamed.

I had been stayed in Dusit Thani for 3 days. It gave me very good memories - their staff are very nice and helpful. Their facilities are great, especially the swimming pool. During my stay in Dusit, I saw millions of stars every night, which is amazing.

I think the location of Dusit Thani is a bit inconvenient. But overall, Dusit Thani is a great hotel.

Asalha Puja Day is one of the most sacred days in Buddhist. It is observed on the fifteenth day of the waxing moon of the eight lunar month (July).  This year it is celebrated at Wat Tampa on Sunday, July 21, 2013.

Asalha Puja Day is the anniversary of the day on which Lord Buddha delivered his first Sermon to his five Disciples at the Deer Park in Benares, over two thousand five hundred years ago. The day also marks the beginning of the worship of the Triple Gems, namely: the Lord Buddha, His Teachings and His Disciples.

The Buddhist Lent starts on the first day of the waning moon of the eighth lunar month. The tradition of Buddhist Lent or the annual three-month Rains Retreat, known in Thai as "PHUN SAA", dates back to the time of early Buddhism in ancient India. All holy men, mendicants and sages spent three months of the annual rainy season in permanent dwellings. They avoided unnecessary travel during this period when crops were still new for fear they might accidentally step on young plants. In deference to popular opinion, Lord Buddha decreed that his followers should also abide by this ancient tradition, and they began to gather in-groups of simple dwellings.

Many Thai people will return to their ancestral homes to worship in their local temple and to bring offerings for the monks. In the evening they will often perform a wian tian, where they walk clockwise around the main shrine of the temple carrying a candle, three incense sticks and a lotus bed. During the day, monks chant mantras or repeat the first sermon of the Buddha.

On a very nice little market street and very close to Koh San Road that has heaps of markets. Felt very safe staying there alone and the food was really good. Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Air con worked beautifully!

“perfect for a few days Bangkok”

even though the Taxi drivers find it hard to find the Hotel, it's a perfect place to stay for a few days visiting Bangkok. The Skytrain station Phayathai is a 10 walk, the Pratunam market about 5 min walk from Hotel. Also the Raillink to airport is at Skytrain station, everything is well organised. The Hotel room was clean and big, tv, airconditioned. The window of the hotel room was facing the outside hallway where a light is left on all night. Breakfast is great, with a big selection (rice, noodles, fried eggs, scrambled egg, bread, cerial, fresh fruit, coffee, tea,...).
One of the receptionists was lovely and smiling the whole time, another one was a bit ignorant and not interested in being friendly or organising things for us. Maybe she had a bad day.
in general a very nice, clean and modern Hotel for a great price!
