Trekking Season at Phu Soi Dao National Park

Trekking Season at Phu Soi Dao National Park

Date: August – January 2015

Venue: Phu Soi Dao National Park,

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting tourists to take part in this year’s trekking season at Phu Soi Dao National Park between August and January. The rainy season is the best time to take in the magical sights of the kingdom’s indigenous flowers in full bloom.

Phu Soi Dao National Park, covering areas both in Uttaradit and Phitsanulok provinces, is abundant with natural flora and fauna. With its highest peak situated at 2,102 metres above the sea level, the mountain is considered the fifth highest in Thailand.

Highlights at this national park are the five-tier Phu Soi Dao waterfall, the seven-tier Sai Thip waterfall, and the trekking trails to see the pine forests at 1,633 metres above the sea level. The trekking route is 6.5 kilometre in distance and would take four to six hours on foot. At the summit is one of the largest natural flower fields in Thailand, boasting indigenous flowers including Dok Ngon Nak, Dok Soi Suwanna and Dok Ya Rak Hom.

Phu Soi Dao National Park provides standard accommodation and camping sites for nature lovers. Nearby the park is the Ban Rom Klao Botanic Garden, a royal initiative project, which has the comprehensive collections of indigenous floras found in Thailand.

Lavish Dinner Buffets at JW Marriott Bangkok

PassionateCouple has posted a blog titled “JW Marriott (Bangkok) – Best Lavish Dinner Buffets” on 3 July, 2014 on Travel Love Dine.

The blog reads:

We stayed in Bangkok for 1 night. Although JW Marriott is only 30 mins drive from the airport, it took us almost 2 hours to reach the hotel as the traffic in Bangkok is just crazy.

Traffic is one of the first things that you see in Bangkok. But we more than happy to just to sit back and enjoy the drive looking at the places across the roads.

On reaching the hotel, our check-in was done within few minutes and in no time we were escorted to our room. The room was beautiful, cozy and luxurious. They also kept a delicious chocolate and strawberry welcome cake for us in our room. Our room overlooked the Nana Entertainment Plaza (a must visit place when in Bangkok – please google for more details).

THE CITY OF ANGELS BANGKOK, THAILAND

PRESENTATION OF BANGKOK, THAILAND

Welcome to the City of angels

Bangkok is one of the most visited capital of Asias, and was awarded best city in the world by « Travel and Leisure Magazine » and « Times Travel Magazine » 4 times in a row from 2008 to 2011. It is true that Bangkok has everything to charm the visitor, splendid temples, worldwide renowned, huge shoppings mall where trademarks of the whole world are presented, a subtle mix of ancient and ultra modern life, with its channels and markets, but also with its city trains ( sky train like the "BTS" or underground like the "MRT"), its express ways crossing each other and crossing the city, its tens of stairs buildings, not mentioning its cuisine, renowned worldwide as well...
Bangkok has 12 millions inhabitants and 1568,7 sq km, making it one of the largest city in the world.

The city is crossed by the Chao Phraya river, which designs 2 separated areas, the right bank (ex Thonburi) more traditional and rustic, with its many water channels (klongs) which made Bangkok deserve the name of "Venice of Asia", and the left bank, more developed  where all the touristic places are, as well as the business center, the sky train and underground network and all modern towers.

Airport. There are actually 2 airports around Bangkok: Suvarnabhumi (spell Soo-war-napom), the ultra modern international airport, built with the same Technics as terminal 2 in Roissy Charles de Gaulle, Paris. Made from glass and metal, it's the longest airport in the world. Bangkok airways domestic flights also arrive here and leave from here. The other airport is Don Muang, north of Bangkok, former international airport, it is nowadays only used for cargo and low-cost domestic flights (1,2 go, Nok Air, etc...).

Sukhumvit. This is the first tourist area for accommodation, it is the longest avenue in Bangkok (more than 40km) and deluxe hotels are all along it. the first Soi are the more crowded.

Chilom is a central area, closer to the river, also hosts numerous hotels of different categories, very useful to shop around with several malls not that far.

Khao San, is the area around Khao San Road, in the Banglamphu district, just above the Grand Palace, near the river. It is the young tourists and travellers guetto, as the cheapest accommodations in bangkok are here. Warning, as many theft have been reported in the cheapest hotels.

WAT PHRA KAEW IN BANGKOK & HOTELS

The Wat Phra Kaew  with Temple amazing invaluable Thailand.

Bangkok, Thailand, Temple, Hotel, Resort
Wat Phra Kaew in Thailand

The Wat Phra Kaew is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple (wat) in Thailand. It is a "potent religio-political symbol and the palladium of Thai society". It is located in the historic centre of Bangkok (district Phra Nakhon), within the precincts of the Grand Palace. The main building is the central ubosoth, which houses the statue of Emerald Buddha. The legendary history of this Buddha image is traced to India, five centuries after the Lord Buddha attained Nirvana, till it was finally enshrined in Bangkok at the Wat Phra Kaew temple in 1782 during Rama I's reign (1782 - 1809). This marked the beginning and raise of the Chakri Dynasty of the present Kingdom of Thailand (the present head of the dynasty is King Rama IX. The Emerald Buddha, a dark green statue, is in a standing form, about 66 centimetres (26 in) tall, carved from a single jade stone (Emerald in Thai means deep green colour and not the specific stone). It is carved in the meditating posture in the style of the Lanna school of the northern Thailand. Except for the Thai King, no other person is allowed to touch the statue. The King changes the cloak around the statue three times a year, corresponding to the summer, winter, and rainy seasons, an important ritual performed to usher good fortune to the country during each season. While legend traces this statue to India, its rich historical records dates its finding in Cambodia in the 15th century, moved to Laos in the 16th century and then to Vientiane where it remained for 215 years, and finally to Thailand in the 18th century. Considering the long history and Nagasena's (a Brahmin who became a Buddhist sage and lived about 150 BC) prophesy that the Emerald Buddha would bring "prosperity and pre-eminence to each country in which it resides", the Emerald Buddha deified in the Wat Phra Kaew is deeply revered and venerated in Thailand as the protector of the country.

AYUTTHAYA PROVINCE, THE OLD CITY OF THAILAND & HOTELS

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Hotel Ayutthaya Resort
The ruins of the old capital in the Ayutthaya historical park

Ayutthaya is one of Thailand historical and majestic highlights. The capital of Thailand, then known as the Kingdom of Ayutthaya, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya was a glorified as one of the biggest cities in Southeast Asia and a regional power for 417 years. The Kingdom of Ayutthaya reached its apex in terms of sovereignty, military might, wealth, culture, and international commerce in the 16th century, when the Kingdom’s territory extended into and beyond present-day Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Ayutthaya had diplomatic relations with Louis XIV of France and was courted by Dutch, Portuguese, English, Chinese and Japanese merchants. During the 17th century, most foreign visitors to Ayutthaya, traders and diplomats alike, claimed Ayutthaya to be the most illustrious and glittering city that they had ever visited. The map of Ayutthaya published in 1691 by Simon de la Loubere in Du Royaume De Siam is proof of such recognition. Visitors can explore and appreciate Thai history in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, which is only 86 kilometers north of Bangkok. Visitors to Ayutthaya can marvel at its grandeur reflected through numerous magnificent temples and ruins concentrated in and around the city, which is located upon an “island” surrounded by the Chao Phraya, Pa Sak and Lopburi Rivers. Although there are numerous attractions, the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park in the heart of Ayutthaya city, is a UNESCO’s World Heritage site and a wonder to behold in Thailand.

 Attractions @ Ayutthaya

- Wihara  Phra Mongkhonbophit
Pra Mongkhonbophit is an image of Buddha made of brick covered with bronze and gilt. Its whole body is black as it was covered with black lacquer. It is assumed that it was built in the reign of Somdej Phra Chairacha in 1538 as a symbol Buddha image of Chichiang Temple and was enshrined outdoor. Later on, King Song-Tham had the Buddha image moved to the south-west of Wat Phra Sri Sanphet and kept it in the pavilion, the Mondopa. In the reign of Phra Chao Sua

- The Royal Palace or the Ancient Royal Palace
The Ancient Royal Palace in Ayutthaya can now be seen only the old ruins of the building. It was assumed that it was constructed by King U - Thong, who founded Ayutthaya when he was at Wiang Lek. After the capital had been completed in 1353, he moved to the new Royal Palace at Nong Sa No which is now Wat Phra Si Sanphet. At that time all pavilions were made from wood. Later on in 1448, King Borom Trai Lokanat dedicated the Royal Palace for Wat Phra Si Sanphet and had the new Royal Palace constructed at the north of the Lopburi River. Several pavilions built inside the Royal Palace which are now known as   "The Ancient Royal Palace", situated next to the northern section of the city wall with a road passing through Chankasem Palace 2 kilometers.

- Wat Chaiwattanaram
This beautiful temple is located on the same side of Wat Putthaisawan but to the west of Ko Muang. This monastery was built by the royal command of King Prasat Thong as a memorial to his mother's land and to celebrate for his coronation in 1630. The architectural style is reminiscent of Khmer temples as the main pagoda, Pra Prang Sri Mahathatu, was surrounded by small ones in 8 directions. It is assumed that the relics of Lord Buddha or other sacred objects used to be kept in the main Prang. The ordination hall is located in the east of the Prang. There are ruins of the principal Buddha image made of sandstone in attitude of subduing mara and in the north ruins of the bases of the three pagodas located the bone relics of Chao Fa Thammathibet (Chaofa Kung Rattanakawi of Ayutthaya) Chao Sangwan and Chao Fa Nim, the king's first concubine. It is now a deserted temple, but the main Prangs and Pagodas remain in good conditions.

KO TARUTAO SATUN, & HOTEL THAILAND

KO TARUTAO SATUN AT THAILAND

Resort Satun , Ko Tarutao Thailand
Ko Tarutao, Satun Thailand

Ko Tarutao in Thailand is one of the 51 islands that belong to the Tarutao National Marine Park archipelago in southern Thailand. One of Tarutao’s greatest attraction is its wildlife: sea turtles, whales, monitor lizards, crab-eating macaques, mouse deer and more all call the island and its surrounding waters home. Compared to other Andaman islands the waters of Ko Tarutao are to murky to snorkel, but for most, the unspoilt beaches, waterfalls, great hiking and views more than compensate for this. And Ko Tarutao , the biggest island in the park where the park office is situated.  The main island of Tarutao used to be a jail for convicts but now tourists can walk  along  trails to beaches and cliffs. The ruined prisons are found at Ao Talo Udang, on the southern tip of island and at Ao Talowao, on the middle of east coast.  The island contains several bays including Ao Phante Malaka with a hilltop viewpoint; Ao Mo Lae and Ao Son. Tarutao’s largest stream, Klong Phante Malaka, enters the sea at the north – western tip of the island at Ao Phante Malaka. Pier and bungalow are also here. The best camping is at the beaches of Ao Jak and Ao Son, two bays south of the park headquarters on the west coast.
